As Californians and visitors from around the world descend upon the San Francisco Bay Area this week for Super Bowl LX, safety, security and preparation are priorities for the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES). In addition to numerous partnerships and support missions throughout the region, Cal OES’s Fire and Rescue Branch has assembled a regional Hazardous Materials Response Team.
This multi-jurisdictional approach to public safety and response operations brings specialized personnel and resources from varying jurisdictions, in this instance Fresno Fire Department, Modesto Fire Department and South San Joaquin County Fire Department, together into one coordinated unit – ready to respond to complex, multi-hazard type events.
Coordinated and managed by Cal OES, this team concept allows California to rapidly combine resources from multiple fire departments and regions under a single coordinated structure, ensuring a scalable and unified response to high-risk or uncommon incidents.
This unique collaboration highlights California’s commitment to innovative, multi-agency coordination – keeping fans, residents, workers and visitors safe.
