The nearly 2,000 staff at Cal OES have responded to increasingly complex disasters in fresh and innovative ways, strengthening the foundation of emergency management to prepare for, respond to and recover from all types of emergencies and disasters.
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion unit plays a vital role in emergencies, ensuring preparedness, response, and recovery efforts are accessible and effective for all communities, especially those historically underserved or disproportionately impacted by disasters.
This week, Cal OES welcomes you to learn more about Ingrid Silva, DEI Specialist with the Cal OES Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). Ingrid supports the Priority Population Task Force, helping to coordinate resources for vulnerable populations. Part of her role is to enhance equity and support instilling it into agency policies, practices and procedures by reviewing and providing recommendations.
Bringing awareness to the importance of diversity and having diverse conversations can make a difference.
“I do believe that by strengthening our workforce we strengthen how we serve California.” Ingrid said.
