Hydration tips and tricks

  • Drink plenty of water and electrolyte drinks before starting any work or activities. This helps your body stay hydrated throughout the day, especially if your job or activity involves heavy labor or high energy output.
  • Avoid sugary drinks or alcohol, this can cause your body to become dehydrated faster.
  • When working in the heat, drink about 1 cup (8 ounces) of water every 15 to 20 minutes to maintain hydration.
  • Keep a reusable water bottle with you whenever possible. Having water readily available makes it easier to stay hydrated throughout the day.
  • Make sure you allow time for regular water breaks. By the time you start to feel thirsty, your body may already be dehydrated.
  • As temperatures continue to rise, take time to drink water, cool off, and check in with how your body feels.

Staying hydrated is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect your health during hot weather.
