Over the past several years, the state has experienced an unprecedented number of emergencies and disasters. As these climate-driven natural disasters become more severe in California, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) staff has met each new challenge head-on.
The nearly 2,000 staff at Cal OES have responded to increasingly complex disasters in fresh and innovative ways, strengthening the foundation of emergency management to prepare for, respond to and recover from all types of emergencies and disasters.
This week, Cal OES welcomes you to learn more about Isamar Garcia, a Senior Emergency Services Coordinator, Continuity Planning with the Planning and Preparedness Unit. The work she does ensures that during a disaster she can help execute a continuity plan and works closely with mission owners across the agency to ensure there is a clear game plan in place if operations are disrupted.
The Continuity Planning Branch of the Disaster Planning Unit is responsible for providing uninterrupted services during an emergency of all-hazard types. The goal of the Branch is to continue vital governmental service operations under any and all conditions.
“I’m the lead and I help coordinate Cal OES continuity plan,” Isamar said, “I make sure to communicate with all of our mission owners here within Cal OES, to make sure that if anything were to happen to Cal OES, we have a game plan.”
Through her work, Isamar helps ensure Cal OES can maintain essential operations during any emergency. By coordinating with teams across the agency, she supports the readiness of Cal OES, helping every part of the organization work together to continue serving Californians when it matters most.
